Thursday, June 10, 2010: Jeffrey Hell Trail - Four volunteers tackled brushing out the Jeffrey Hell Trail. Going in from the trail-head we were able to clear a little over a mile of the trail. We brushed the trail back to wilderness standards. We also removed four trees from the trail. This coming week's trip will be to return to the trail and finish the last half mile of old roadbed and the steep half mile section that drops down to the South Fork Citico Trail.

Here are the hours;

Bobby Mitchell - 7 hours - 1.5 hours travel
Ken Jones - 7 hours - 1.5 hours travel
Tazz Reid - 7 hours - 1 hour travel
Bill Hodge - 7 hours - 1 hour travel

Thursday, June 17, 2010: Jeffrey Hell Trail - Three of us continued to tackle the Jeffrey Hell Trail on Thursday. We hiked to where the trail drops steeply off to the south fork and cleared a tree that was making that trail change of direction confusing. We brushed out the trail to standards coming back out to the point we had reached the week before. That will leave just the steep section of trail to work on this week. Here are the hours:

Bill Hodge - 6.5 hours - 1 hour travel
Ken Jones - 6.5 hours - 1.5 hours travel
Roger Taylor - 6.5 hours - 1 hour travel

Monday, May 16, 2011 - Jeffrey Hell Trail - Three of us tackled several blow-downs both in and out of Wilderness. We removed three trees from the Jeffrey Hell Trail, removed a problem tree from the South Fork Citico Trail and sawed out a huge mess at the bottom of the Crowder Branch Trail (about 7 trunks). The hours are;

Bill Hodge - 5 hours worked - 1 hour travel
Tazz Reid - 5 hours worked - 1 hour travel
Tom Smith - 5 hours worked - 1 hour travel

Wednesday, August 10, 2011 - Jeffrey Hell Trail - Bill Hodge went out the day before the Thursday trip and brushed out about a half mile of the trail.

Bill Hodge, travel time 1 hour, work time 3 hours

Thursday, August 11, 2011 - Jeffrey Hell Trail - We worked on brushing out the Jeffery Hell Trail (#196) yesterday. Bill Hodge had gotten a start on this project the previous day. With such a large work crew, we were able to complete brushing out the entire trail to the South Fork Citico Trail intersection. We did find 8 - 10 trees across the trail, and one of them was a 30" diameter hemlock that will require some time with a good crosscut sawyer crew. We plan to tackle these trees for our work trip next week. We certainly appreciate Stephen Eren working with us again on this project. The work day was hot, but it seemed that the humidity was a little lower. Here are the volunteer hours for this work trip:

Thursday, August 18, 2011 - Jeffrey Hell Trail - We had a really great work crew to tackle the logging out of the Jeffery Hell Trail today. We cleared about 8 trees from the trail, with the last tree being 1/4 mile from the intersection with the South Fork Citico Trail. The large hemlock turned out to be relatively easy to clear, with only one cut and using an existing break all the way through the tree on the down slope side. The tree diameter turned out to be 25" by the measuring tape. We hauled in a peavey that made short work of rolling the large chunk out of the trail. The work today completes the logging out and brushing out of this entire trail over the last 2 weeks. Here are the volunteer hours for the work trip
