Cherokee Hiking Club Minutes, November 12, 2009, Ryan’s Restaurant at Cleveland
The monthly meeting of the Cherokee Hiking Club was held on November 12, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan’s Restaurant in Cleveland. Twenty-one members and one guest attended. President Randy Morris called the business meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Minutes from the previous meeting were read by Secretary Jane Bohannon and were approved as read. In the absence of Treasurer Ann Gray, Bill Gray reported the current balance.
Old business: Suzanne Bennett, horticulturist at CSCC and Verna Townsend, our Newsletter Editor, have painted some blazes on the CSCC Trail since our last meeting. According to Verna’s report, Suzanne will need some funds for purchasing a new sign in order to put the club’s website address on the Adopt-A Trail sign.
Debbie Flower nominating committee member presented the following list of officers for the year 2010: President----Randy Morris, Vice-President------Bill Kamm, Secretary-----Jane Bohannon, Treasurer-----Ann Gray, Newsletter Editor----Rebecca Levings, Web-Master----Rick Harris, Publicist----Deborah Flower.
Marc Bernatti made a motion to accept the officers as presented and Esther Nunley seconded the motion. The officers were accepted by a unamimous vote. Debbie will be in charge of the installation of officers at the December meeting.
Rick Harris reported that the Annual BMTA meeting at Coker Creek Village was well attended and the hikes associated with the meeting went well.
New business: Randy suggested planning the club’s monthly meeting sites at the January 10 Planning Meeting, and then presenting the list and voting on the sites at the January 14th monthly meeting.
Hikes completed: Reports were given on the Lookout Mountain Bluff Trail and on the John Muir Cleanup.
Upcoming hikes; The following upcoming hikes were discussed: The Clear Creek Clemmer Combo, the Rock Creek segment of the Cumberland Trail, the Linda Davis Memorial Chattanooga River Walk, the Unicoi Turnpike , and the Treemont Loop to Metcalf Bottoms.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
Next meetings: The next monthly meeting/Christmas party will be Friday, December 11 at Antonio’s Restaurant in Cleveland at 6:30 p.m. ( ordering from the menu). Bring a gift for the gift exchange. Suggested gift value limit is $10.00.

The Hike Planning meeting will be Sunday afternoon January 10 at James Anderson’s office in the Family Resource Agency at 3680 Michigan Avenue Road----just south of Antonio’s Restaurant.
The January monthly meeting will be on the 14th at Michael’s Restaurant in Etowah at 6:30 p.m.
