Hiwassee Canoe & Kayak Trip
Sunday, September 9, 2012

Brief Description:   We will canoe from the Al Rymer's house to the Patty Bridge takeout. This is a fairly leisurely trip for open canoes.  It is about a mile to the US411 bridge, then another 6 miles down to the Patty Bridge. Each person will be responsible for their own canoe, life jackets, and other gear.  Anyone with a canoe, please let Clayton know if you have room for another person(s) in your canoe. Each person will need water, snacks, rain gear and any other lightweight items (preferably waterproof) to help make the trip enjoyable.

This canoe trip has become a Club tradition undertaken every summer, and will consist of the same leisurely paddle down the Hiawassee River as before.  However, Clayton Pannell will not be available to lead the trip; instead long-time club member Al Rymer will lead at Clayton’s request.

The trip will begin at Al’s house on the Hiaassee, and will end at Patty Bridge, the take-out point.  Paddlers should meet at Al’s house at 2:30 p.m. to work out the details of the shuttle, and plan to get on the river at 3:30 p.m.

Length:  7 miles

Difficulty Rating: Easy

Hike Leader If interested, please call Al Rymer at 423-808-0011 (home), 423-506-9350 (cell)
