Jacks River Trail Dayhike
Wednesday, September 2, 2009
Brief Description: The trail leaves from Daly Gap at the eastern edge of Cohutta Wilderness. This is a cool shady hike, great for hot summer days. The first mile and a half is easy walking through a quiet forest of large hemlocks. However, the 2 crossings may be almost knee deep and will be slippery. I suggest bringing walking sticks, a change of shoes, and a plastic bag for your valuables.
Leader: Karen Young, leader. 423-339-1156.
Length: 5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate due to numerous river crossings
Directions to the Trailhead: Meet in Cleveland at Bi-Lo on the Cleveland by-pass at 10 am for the 50 mile, 1 1/2 hr drive. We can also meet at Ocoee Hardees or Ducktown Piggly Wiggly. Please call Karen Young, 423-339-1156.
