Mountain Dayhike
Saturday, November
8, 2008
Brief Description: We will hike from Eagle Gap to Beehouse Gap with a car shuttle, therefore most of the trail will be downhill. Along the Flats Mountain ridgeline, the views of the Indian Boundary Lake and the Citico Wilderness are awesome!
Everyone is invited back to the Harris' house for supper. Please bring whatever you want to drink and Brenda will supply the rest. You are also invited to ease your aches and pains in the hot tub (bring a bathing suit).
Call or email Brenda if you plan to attend. This is a joint hike with the Sequoyah Hiking Club.
Leader: Brenda Harris 423/253-6358 brendatharris@aol.com
Length: 6.2 miles
Difficulty: Moderate, mostly downhill. The trail is in good shape as of a few months ago.
Directions to the Trailhead: Plan to leave the Etowah Hardee’s at 9 AM or the Tellico Plains Hardee’s at 9:30 AM.
Post Trip Report: The weather man was correct in his forecast for a beautiful Saturday. The temperature was also perfect for hiking. The day of rain on Friday made most of the trees bare of leaves so the views of the mountains and Indian Boundary and Tellico Lakes were great.Ester Nunley, Verna Townsend and Brenda Harris were joined by Gail Henley, Debby and Larry Moore, John DeTurk, and Libby Lowry, members of the Sequoyah Hiking Club and a new friend, David Young form Cleveland who read about our club in the internet! We encountered no bears, boars, bugs, hound dogs, hunters, or other hikers on the trail but we did meet up with a slow moving garter snake!Contact the Webmaster
